What is The Hook & Ladder Bucket Brigade?

Before hoses and fire hydrants were readily available, fire fighting was a community effort, requiring a lot of hands and buckets. Water used to extinguish a fire was transported from its source by a line of people passing buckets of water from one person to the next. While firefighters fought blazes on the front line the community rallied behind them with the support they needed. Like this old time practice, The Hook & Ladder Bucket Brigade is a community of supporters whose efforts support firefighters.


How does The Hook & Ladder Bucket Brigade Work?

The H&L Bucket Brigade is hosted by your establishment, at your discretion and you decide how you would like to support local firefighters. Choose between supporting a specific firefighter-related need or contribute additional funds to Hook & Ladder’s recipient in your region. You also choose how to feature the promotion (i.e. daily happy hour special, weekly as an evening party, monthly, quarterly or as a one-time promotional event). All you have to do is donate a portion of your establishment’s Hook & Ladder sales from the event to benefit a firefighter-related cause and you give how ever you’d like. (i.e. 5% of sales during the promotion or perhaps 25¢ for every pint of a Hook & Ladder beer you sell).


When and how do I make the donation?

Once you determine the amount generated through your promotion, simply write a check to the Hook & Ladder Firefighter Burn Foundation. They will send you a receipt for your tax records and forward the donations to your designated recipient with appropriate acknowledgement of your efforts.*


How does Hook & Ladder support my effort?

Hook & Ladder and your local distributor will work with you to provide appropriate promotional materials and to promote your event. Hook & Ladder will feature your promotion on their website, include the event in their newsletter and if possible, send an H&L representative to attend the event.

* Hook & Ladder Firefighter Burn Foundation is currently going through the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status. Once granted, the Foundation will be recognized as a tax exempt nonprofit since its date of inception in October 2007.
